“According to the lawsuit, Globe Life sells “burial policies” designed to cover end-of-life expenses primarily to elderly Arkansans with limited means, Jennings claims that Globe Life conducts a short phone interview with vague health questions before issuing these policies, and the application form is not filled out or signed by the buyer. When a policyholder dies, Globe Life allegedly rescinds the policy and refuses to pay the beneficiary by conducting a posthumous review of the insured’s medical records. Jennings says Globe Life claims the deceased policyholder “incorrectly” answered a question during the phone interview and that the policy would not have been issued if the questions were answered “correctly.””
