These statistics are pretty amazing. 4,347 mandamus lawsuits filed in 2021. 647 immigration based mandamus filings in May 2022 alone!

On the one hand, this is very sad to see because it shows just how many long delays are in the immigration system and how much pain it is inflicting if it causes this many people to file lawsuits. Only a small fraction of petitioners negatively impacted by delays are filing lawsuits. Most people either are afraid to or can’t afford to file lawsuits.

On the other hand, more and more people are learning these cases work and are taking action. The stigma and fear of suing the Government is decreasing.
